Check Windows
Make sure all the window seals are in good condition and do not need repairing or replacing, add a small amount of lubricant to the seals to avoid them sticking when it comes to opening them after the winter months, after you have done all your checks make sure all windows are securely shut preventing any bugs or insects moving in while your away.
Ventilation
Make sure you keep all vents open to allow air to circulate around the caravan to avoid condensation and damp.
Water supply
Its important to check and make sure all your water supply has been drained, you can do this by opening all the taps and the main drain plug, make sure you remove your water filter to prevent it from getting damaged from frost or damp.
Interior
Give the inside a deep clean, hoover the carpets, sofas and beds, remove all bedding and sheets.
All cushions should be stood up to allow air to circulate to prevent them attracting damp.
Clean out all cupboards, make sure all food and beverages have been removed.
Give the fridge and freezer a good clean out, when this has been done leave the door slightly open to allow air to circulate preventing mould and damp.
Make sure you leave nothing behind and remove all belongings.
Exterior
Wash the outside of the caravan using a decent quality caravan cleaner and then coat with an overwintering fluid to prevent algae growth and protect against pollutants.
If you have an awning spread it out and clean using the appropriate cleaning products, then store in a clean dry area.
Tyres
Store your Caravan on level ground, make sure you visit your caravan throughout the winter to turn the wheels to avoid flat spots, or you can replace them with winter wheels.
If you are not replacing your wheels with winter ones then it is a good idea to securely choke your wheels,
Make sure you lower and lock the corner steadies and release the handbrake.
Gas
Its important that you remove all gas cylinders and store them somewhere safe, if you do not have anywhere to store them then ensure the valves are shut off and the gas locker is locked shut.
Battery
If your battery is not connected to the alarm system then its best to remove it, store it in a safe cool dry place and check it regularly.
